yesterday was long

so i went to the mice convention.
and it was awesome.
had me a table...
and some awesome friends around me.
sold stuff, had fun, broke even at four pm
the profit went to dinner.
good day

however,
i was upset by something really big, and really frustrating
there was an emphasis on super hero characters from big company names
which ate up so much of the market, that i was like
"where did the independence go, if everyone is relying on dc and marvel to make cool characters?"
it broke my heart, and i wondered if i would have to sell out next time.

and then the coffee shop lady rhea accidentally stole copies of deep suit and near legend.
ho hum. at least i didnt show her the prints

in other news, i am announcing a collaboration between myself and joe tagliaferri http://afingerlessbutcher.tumblr.com/

furthermore, im going to submerge for a bit, to lick wounds and make more comics. i saw lotsa stuff at the con, and much of it was inspiring. ming doyle, dave mahan, patt kelley, and allan dorison, i especially thank you all, along with joe tag, bethany strohm and alex dufault, who sat in a corner helping me all day long.

goodnight everybody
i have great friends

near legend series begins soon-ish

alrighty folks, i make lots of promises
most of them i keep, some of them i break, but all of these are for the greater good, no matter where on the line they fall

the one shot of near legend (i showed off a month or two ago) is not the final version
instead, im being me, and making executive decisions based on what i think might be better.
trust me, i am not doing this without reason.

the actual first issue of the series is going to be a full 3o pages chock o block full of comic, with all the stops pulled out, and special surprises in store.

sorry for the inconvenience. im doing what i can so my fans can get what they deserve.

awesomesauce

on the bright side this is pretty

the new year; aka. heres hoping it doesn't suck

alrighty then kiddies, we have a batch cooking up for 2011

a) the big guns = muckraker is back in production. i know its been dicey, and i hate the tease as much as any of you, but trust me, this baby is long overdue and its about time i get it out of my system

b) the new kid = mister blake, brand spanking new character who deserves a spot somewhere in the stars this year. i mean, who doesn't love a hired killer. with any luck, he'll get a cameo somewhere, or at the very least an one-shot

c) expansion pack = near legend is an eventual matter. i'm still working on her script, but being the optimistic twit i am, i'm thinking that there's something more than a pilot in the works.

d) i might have a short autobiographical film put together by the end of the semester.
maybe...

also, i've got a friend in California (stupid spellcheck forcing the capital letters on me) who is currently a film student. this man's work is really witty, and someday i hope to do a joint project with him. right now, im working on a non profit promotional etching for his upcoming short "ninja noir," which we're all chomping our nails for. no doubt we're looking at another knockout.

wowza, it is two thirty and i still have an essay to finish for written comp that i'll post when done
i'll do it in the morning. maybe listen to this song one last time before i close the laptop

i'm excited about sleeping in a bed tonight :)
ciao!

special doodle

weird, really static sketch i did of Charlie O. this is boring, but i enjoyed the details.
oh yeah, and this is some of that "exclusive content" we were talking about earlier.
la la la la

its that time of year, and so i figured "why not give out something special."
here they are folks, preliminary character designs for the Scientist and our man Charlie O
this guy (nicknamed slug) is a total skeezball, but dont worry because that was totally intentional. or at least thats what i plan to tell my public. i cant remember if these stains were supposed to be oil or blood...

you know, its not really that important after all. next slide!

Charlie changed a lot since conception. like, his temperature mustve risen, since we never see him this clothed in the ten pages i drew. maybe he just realized that longsleeved shirts get caught in machinery easier? im still not done with this fellah though, by the end of my graphic novella when it comes out, our boy could be emo haired and fedora-ed (i have a nasty tendency to do that to my protagonists, just ask miles)

in other news today, i just finished an one shot script for a Superman-Lovecraft crossover story taking place in innsmouth. this is a secret though, as A} copyright isnt up yet and B} its for my brother's holiday present. so yeah... if youre good, i may just post that up here too, since its a nonprofit project. so maybe...

its under consideration

near legend pilot episode

Well ladies and gents, here it is, the entire ten pages of the demo for my new work "Near Legend," which has become instead of a serial, a graphic novella that i am plotting out instead of spending my time on homework and friends. I hope you enjoy this taster, and i look forward to anything anyone wants to say. Suggestions and Criticism are always welcome!

near legend issue one is out!

and there you have it folks, cover to issue one, assuming that we will have issues beyond this.
im thinking a semi-regular publication of ten pages each telling a story from the life of Charlie O. youngest leader in postwar New Troy and opponent of what appears to be a musical robot.

with any luck, i will have special promo art posted up here, but that all depends on how soon i find a scanner. volunteer your hardware to circulate my oddities!
